Incredible colorization. This is probably as close as we will ever get to how the author really looked. You have made his hair the brown that it was, and given a dark tint to his eyes, which, while more of a slate shade of blue by most accounts, were said by others to have had a deeper hue. It is a haunting image of a highly intelligent, sophisticated, and handsome man--hardly, the wastrel of Rufus Griswold's and others' malicious accounts. The imperfections of the old "Ultima Thule" daguerreotype and later copies made, of which this one is, have all but vanished in this fresh assessment. What you have done with the background is amazing for the contrast that it provides between it and the darkness of his hair and suit coat. Thank you for such a striking portrait rendition of this brilliant poet and author.
